Etsy Artisan Interview with studio3ten
Risa !! - its an M Class Planet, located in a binary star system, with two moons.....ok, ok, I'm a big star trek fan........sorry.....
Would you ever dye your hair a not so ordinary color and if yes, what color?
YES ! Bright Pink. or Bright Blue.
What is the wackiest thing you have ever done?
Stalked Johnny Depp for an entire day - standing in 20 degree weather - while he was filming Public Enemies. (I have the best husband ever, he stood there with screaming women and girls - wildly yelling for Mr. Depps attention) - it was well worth, I swear he looked right into my eyes when I yelled his name, well, it was either at me, or this other lady - well I know it was in my general direction....
How did you first get interested in what you do?
I have been drawing since a small child, my mother said I was drawing pictures before I was talking…....just always loved drawing and painting, I just could never get enough of it. I am a self taught artist - but fined tuned this skill in college while studying fine art, specifically painting with oils – and my thesis was self portraits.
I feel my work has evolved more into a stylistic approach. Its basically always evolving, changing - I remember a few years ago someone I knew was talking about Etsy. well stupid me, years would go by - and I didn't look into it until a couple months ago - I LOVE etsyland, so many nice etsians.....
Tell us about your shop.
Studio3ten is a fun - eclectic mix of color - and various imagery.
I sell prints, cards - and have LOTS more to come! I add to it all the time - and am working on some new things as I type this.......It will also have cards that can be purchased individually for holidays/etc. -I also hope to have some original oil paintings in the future - and some top secret things that I have not uploaded yet ! All my pieces start in my brain - and I spend hours in my studio fine tuning - and going through many rough drafts, before the final is uploaded for the world to see.......
All my art encompass some of 'me'/and my inspirations, like coffee/wine - beer - my love of any and all music/etc (love all those things !) - I also am inspired by current fashion trends - as well as vintage fashion.... and various eras when clothing/accessories were SO unique - and eccentric, like top hats - and feather boas....man I really think I was meant to live in the roaring 20's !
I also really enjoy color, I would say the two things that are common threads in all my work is strong use of color and repetition – I am obsessed with taking a word or a shape and using repetition to enhance its form/thought – my poetry is the product of many weeks or sometimes months…….a line here, a line there……until I have reworked it and rewritten it over and over – until I feel it’s done’ and it can’t be ‘worked’ anymore……..I have a hard time ’stopping’ with my work and always have.
I add to my site ALL the time, and will have lots of fun things for valentines, some other super cool stuff, then I don’t want to mention quite yet – also I’d like to add some original paintings down the road as well…… I think my shop encompasses a lot of styles/expressions…sort of like the different facets of my personality…so long story short, there will be lots more to come…….
Where else can we find you? (facebook, blog, twitter, flickr, etc)
I am not anywhere but etsyville. I used to have a facebook account, but it became too much of a time sucker, - and I was getting bombarded by 'friends' that I didn’t know, and it scared me. Every day someone new...."someone that knows someone else that knows you, wants to be your friend" - Really? I never heard of them! - its just strange to me, more like 'virtual' fake friends, but I understand that its great for families and friends spread out and able to connect - I really do get the concept, for now, its not for me.....someday I'd like a blog or website - but until then I am pretty much just on etsy.
Do you like minty cheese?
huh?
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Just that I am having so much fun with my esty shop, and can't wait to keep adding to it.........I am in awe of all the talent out there - I wish everyone the best in this new year.
